T H E A R T I S T S
This exhibition honours ten great artists, Henry Darger, William Dawson, Lee Godie, Mr Imagination, Aldobrando Piacenza, Pauline Simon, Drossos Skyllas, Dr. Charles Smith, Wesley Willis and Joseph E. Yoakum which brought to the highest the artistic singularity of Chicago.

Except for Henry Darger, whose work was built clandestinely, the artists were connected to the artistic scene and interacted individually with the art schools, galleries and collectors of Chicago. The works exhibited here are a clear key component in the history and development of art brut in the United States. The appreciation of the forms powerful and unusual of the creative drive is associated with Folk Art, traditional folk art and where Self-taught. Often developed outdoors, in gardens or on the street due to its nature.
T H E E X P E R I E N C E
This is the second time this year we visit the Halle Saint Pierre. The first time we visited the expo “Hey! Modern Art & Pop Culture #4” on the first floor. Read more about this in our blog.
This time we wandered into the art brut of Chicago in what seems to be “The underground of Halle Saint Pierre”. Inside this dark room, we find the art in its organic form. We see a city (Chicago) changing and speaking throughout the works, we out being corrupted by the institution or society it shows us honesty I what the artist wants to tell. This is a very important part of art, it is where the art begins.

Excepto Henry Darger, cuyo trabajo fue construidos de manera clandestina, los artistas se conectaron a la escena artística e interactuaron individualmente con las escuelas de arte, galerías y coleccionistas de Chicago. Las obras que se exhiben aquí son un componente clave en la historia y el desarrollo del arte bruto en los Estados Unidos. La apreciación de las formas poderosas e inusuales del impulso creativo está asociada con el arte popular, el arte popular tradicional y el autodidacta. A menudo se desarrollan al aire libre, en jardines o en la calle debido a su naturaleza.

Esta vez nos adentramos en el arte brut de Chicago en lo que parece ser “el undergournd” de la Halle Saint Pierre. Dentro de este cuarto oscuro, encontramos el arte en su forma orgánica. Vemos a una ciudad (Chicago) cambiando y hablando a lo largo de las obras, sin ser corrompidos por la institución o la sociedad nos demuestra honestidad y lo que el artista realment quiere decir. Esta es una parte muy importante del arte, así es como comienza el arte muchas veces.
