The second solo exhibition of French artist Théo Mercier at this museum left us floating in a world between playfulness and terror.

We were happy to have the chance to see his work in such a spot on location like the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature in Paris. The museum itself is another universe. Not knowing what to spect we adventured into this world he created “Every Stone Should Cry”.
This will be the last exhibition the museum hosts before closing its doors in June for a whole year due to renovations.
T H E E X P O
Théo Mercier questions the idea of the “domestication” of Nature by Man, whether it be animal, vegetable or mineral. He imagines a post-modernist scenario built around the happiness of animals in a domesticated happiness, a garden of illusions where the living world plays all the roles imagined by and for Man.
Transforming a temporary exhibition space into a new type of space-time, Théo Mercier takes us to a hybrid world somewhere between shop shelves, a cabinet of curiosities and a playground for children and animals. He highlights the tensions that exist between play and control, happiness and terror, illusion and reality and between reward and punishment.
T H E E X P E R I E N C E
We wandered through 2 floors consisting of several rooms of the museum, glancing between objects that seem to have come out of a modern prehistoric era (if that is possible to imagine). Textures and forms make harmonious waves of feelings and we felt at times happy and the next second terrified.
Never really letting us go, constantly surprising and trapping us in the contrast of the art and tapestries on the walls of the museum and Théos’ contemporary, very well blended pieces. I cannot deny that I did recognize a Mexican influence in it all, a kind of ethnic vibe fighting with the European tradition of hunting. This could be one of the best expos of this spring in Paris. Be sure not to miss it.

La segunda exposición individual del artista francés Théo Mercier en este museo nos ha dejado flotando en un mundo entre la diversión y el terror.

Primero vimos a Théo Mercier en su espectacular performance “Radio Vinci Park” en colaboración con François Chaignaud. Este artículo fue escrito en forma de poema por la artista y preformer mexicana Tatiana Musi. Lee el artículo completo aquí.
Nos alegró tener la oportunidad de ver su trabajo en un lugar como el Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature en París. El museo en sí es otro universo. Sin saber qué esperar, nos aventuramos en el mundo que Théo creó para nosotros: “Every Stone Should Cry”.
Esta será la última exposición que el museo alberga antes de cerrar sus puertas en junio durante todo un año debido a renovaciones.
L A E X P O
Théo Mercier cuestiona la idea de la “domesticación” de la naturaleza por parte del hombre, ya sea animal, vegetal o mineral. Imagina un escenario posmodernista construido alrededor de la felicidad de los animales y la felicidad domesticada, un jardín de ilusiones donde el mundo viviente desempeña todos los roles imaginados por y para el hombre.
Transformando un espacio de exposición temporal en un nuevo tipo de espacio-tiempo, Théo Mercier nos lleva a un mundo híbrido entre estantes de tiendas, un gabinete de curiosidades y un área de juegos para niños y animales. Destaca las tensiones que existen entre el juego y el control, la felicidad y el terror, la ilusión y la realidad y entre la recompensa y el castigo.
L A E X P E R I E N C I A
Recorrimos dos pisos y varias salas del museo, observando estos objetos de el artista que parecen haber salido de la era prehistórica moderna (si es posible imaginarlo). Las texturas y formas provocaron olas de sentimientos armoniosos en nuestra imaginación. Nos sentimos a veces felices y el siguiente segundo aterrorizadas.
Realmente nunca nos dejaron ir, constantemente sorprendidos y atrapados en el contraste del arte y los tapices en las paredes del museo y las piezas contemporáneas de Théos. Una combianción casi perfecta. No puedo negar que reconocí una influencia mexicana en todo esto, una especie de vibra étnica que lucha con la tradición europea de la caza. Esta podría ser una de las mejores exposiciones de esta primavera en París. Asegúrate de no perdertela.
