BEAUTY SALON
(Salon de Beauté) in the renowned LGTBQueer space, “La Mutinerie” . The glasses of red wine and the beer mugs were gradually filling up while Felipe Osornio, aka Lechedevirgen Trimegisto, was preparing in his dressing room. The moment of his first presentation in Paris had arrived.
Lechedevirgen (Querétaro, Mexico, 1991) is a visual artist who specializes in performance art, focusing on issues such as sexual dissidence, violence, disease and death. It takes its name directly from the alchemical tradition of understanding art as a way of healing and a space for deep transformations. Especially focusing on the relationship between the material and the immaterial. Previously, his work has been linked to postpornography and Latin American queer art, as well as Mexican mysticism and folklore.

La Mutinerie, lights become dark, the audience is silent and turns towards the stage; some sit on the floor, others simply remain static with a drink in hand. We perceive a distant sound that is softly approaching, and there it is, Lechedevirgen wears a charro queer-style ensemble with shoulder pads, from which yellow layers that move to the rhythm of his body slide that dances to the song Dos Puñales, original lyrics by Agustín Lara, mythical Mexican composer and performer from the 20’s until the late 60’s. In the background, images of Mexican horror movies from the 70’s accompany this dumbbell of the virtual and the real.
The Beauty Salon is created by the artist, with a fusion of objects of Mexican folklore and stylist’s props: scissors, comb, makeup etc. To begin, a spectator is invited to go on stage and settle in the chair. Lechedevirgen performs a whole ritual that combines healing the body with an egg to “remove all evil”, herbs to perform a cleansing and makeup artist-stylist processes. One after another they go on and lend themselves to performance, the public responds, coming alive, watching. The interaction between the two sides has been established.
The piece gradually comes to an end. Edith Piaf’s La Vie En Rose plays sweetly in the background while Lechedevirgen interprets her in a transparent silk robe, while her fine body lacerated by life and circumstances, health and disease can be seen. Yellow heels, pink fake nails, carmine lips, precise movements. The melodies come and go between two cultures, from Mariachi “Guadalajara Guadalaaaaajaraaaaa”, to French male / female voices declaring texts.
And at the end of it all, what is gender besides something presumably biological? An appropriation …

This European tour 2019 Lechedevirgen will be presenting from October 7 to 9 in the city of Barcelona with a workshop called “Bodies of Color”, and on October 11 with the performance “The Tree of Blood” at the Antic Theater in the same city. The closure will be in the city of Bourges, France with “Intangible Transplantations” on October 19 in “Le Nadir”, Transpalette.

Performer mexicano -Lechedevirgen Trimegisto- presenta su pieza “Salón de Belleza”en París.
París, 2 de octubre a las 20:00pm, el artista-performer -mexicano- Lechedevirgen Trimegisto presentó una pieza inédita, concebida especialmente para la capital francesa: Salón de Belleza (Salon de Beauté) en el reconocido espacio LGTBQueer, “La Mutinerie”. Las copas de vino tinto y los tarros de cerveza se iban llenando paulatinamente mientras que Felipe Osornio, alias Lechedevirgen Trimegisto, se preparaba en su camerino, la hora de su primera presentación en París había llegado.
Lechedevirgen (Querétaro, México,1991) es un artista visual especializado en arte de performance, enfocado a temas como disidencia sexual y violencia, la enfermedad y la muerte. Retoma su nombre directamente de la tradición alquímica, entendiendo el arte como vía de sanación y un espacio de transformaciones profundas, interesándose especialmente en la relación que existe entre lo material y lo inmaterial. Anteriormente su trabajo ha estado vinculado con la pospornografía y el arte queer latinoamericano, así como con el misticismo y folclore mexicano.
20:10pm, las luces La Mutinerie se vuelven ausentes, el público guarda silencio y voltea hacia el escenario; unos se sientan en el suelo, otros simplemente se quedan estáticos con trago en mano. Percibimos un sonido lejano que se acerca suavemente, y ahí está, Lechedevirgen viste un conjunto estilo charro queer con hombreras, de las cuales se deslizan unas capas amarillas que se mueven al ritmo de su cuerpo el cual baila la canción Dos Puñales, letra original de Agustín Lara, compositor e intérprete mexicano mítico desde los años 20’s hasta finales de los 60’s. Como fondo, imágenes del cine mexicano de horror de los años 70’s, acompañan ésta mancuerna de lo virtual y lo real.
El Salón de Belleza es instalado por el artista, con objetos fusión del folklore mexicano y de utilería del estilista: tijera, peine, maquillaje. Un primer espectador es invitado a pasar al escenario para instalarse en la silla, Lechedevirgen realiza todo un ritual que combina curandería a través de un huevo para “quitar todo mal”, de hierbas para efectuar una limpia y de procesos de maquillista-estilista. Uno tras otra van pasando y prestándose al performance, el público responde, está ahí, vivo, observando. La interacción entre ambos lados se ha creado.
La pieza llega poco a poco a su fin. La vie en rose de Edith Piaf suena dulcemente mientras que Lechedevirgen la interpreta en una bata de seda transparente, de la cual se aprecia su fino cuerpo lacerado por la vida y las circunstancias, la salud y la enfermedad. Tacones amarillos, uñas postizas rosas, labios carmín, movimientos precisos. Las melodías van y vienen entre dos culturas, de Mariachi “Guadalajara Guadalaaaaajaraaaaa”, a voces francesas masculinas/femeninas declamando textos.
Y al final de todo, qué es el género además de algo presuntamente biológico? Una apropiación…
En ésta gira europea 2019, Lechedevirgen se estará presentando del 7 al 9 de octubre en la ciudad de Barcelona con un workshop llamado “Cuerpos de Color”, y el 11 de octubre con el performance “El Árbol de Sangre” en el Teatro Antic de la misma ciudad. El cierre será en la ciudad de Bourges, Francia con “Transplantaciones Inmateriales” el 19 de octubre en “Le Nadir”, Transpalette.
