Fashion is not only what we wear, but it is also what we see, what we feel, it is history and it is art. The combination of all forces made the fashion label Atelier E.B come to life. This is what it looks like (to me).

I have decide to write a more personal note on this exhibition. Lafayatte Anticipations is inside of the most contemporary art centers that I know in Paris. They are always pushing the limits of art, production and object. Using the space in a minimalist way that seemed almost effortless. This time in sort of show room.

During fashion week in Paris most label tend to rent the spaces in the galleries near Le Marais area to use them as showrooms for their collection. Passer-by is the fussion of both, a very cool and armonic. A collaboration between Atelier E.B; created by designer Beca Lipscombe and the artist Lucy McKenzie with a couple of contemporary desingers and artist such as Tauba Auerbach, Anna Blessmann, Marc Camille Chaimowicz, Steff Norwood, Elizabeth Radcliffe, Bernie Reid et Markus Selg who concentrated on the execution of the mannequin. The mannequin has become a muse, a living creature and maybe a god for the world of the passer-by.

So, what about this exhibition? First of all, the sensation of floating in the cosmos and through time. The vintage, the history, the edition, the research, the collaboration and the good eye of the spirit of fashion present in the core of each piece.
Soon enough I was window shopping, or reading a book, or watching a movie and reading a magazanie. Maybe I was about to try something on or walking inside a museum or could be that I went to Greece to Morocco, then to Egypt; did I ever stopped to buy a post card or a souvenir? Where there objects that I should have collected?
The way Atelier E.B and Lafayette Anticipations came together achived the artistic expectation. Challenged by the inention and the result of this project I walked away empty handed but filled with poetry. Thanks to a very present color palette, inspired by the figures and encoded messages, I absorbed it. But to be honest, and I don’t know if can explain this, my artistic heart and desinger mind can’t reach this level. Maybe it is because I am too “adult” or too “folklore” but feels like another planet, not so far away but distant.
I guess it is time to dig deeper. Perhaps to go further… or at least to revisit this place.

La moda no es solo lo que usamos, también es lo que vemos, lo que sentimos, es historia y es arte. El resultado de la combinación de todas estas las fuerzas es la marca de moda Atelier E.B cobrara vida. Esto es lo que parece (para mí).

He decidido escribir una nota más personal sobre esta exposición. Lafayatte Anticipations es uno de los centros de arte más contemporáneos que conozco en París. Siempre están empujando los límites del arte, la producción y el objeto. Utilizando el espacio de una manera minimalista que parece casi sin esfuerzo. Esta vez en una especie de sala de exposiciones.

Durante la semana de la moda en París, la mayoría de las marcas tienden a alquilar los espacios en las galerías cercanas al área de Le Marais para usarlas como salas de exposición. “Passer-by ” es la fusión de ambos, muy cool y armónica. Una colaboración entre el Atelier E.B; creado por la diseñadora Beca Lipscombe y la artista Lucy McKenzie junto con un par de artistas y diseñadores contemporáneos como: Tauba Auerbach, Anna Blessmann, Marc Camille Chaimowicz, Steff Norwood, Elizabeth Radcliffe, Bernie Reid y Markus Selg quienes se concentraron en la ejecución del maniquí. Aquí el maniquí se ha convertido en una musa, una criatura viviente y talvez un dios, todo esto para el mundo del transeúnte.

Entonces, ¿qué pasa con esta exposición? En primer lugar, la sensación de flotar en el cosmos y en el tiempo, lo vintage, la historia, la edición, la investigación, la colaboración y el buen ojo del espíritu de la moda siempre presentes en el núcleo de cada pieza.
Muy pronto estaba haciendo “window shopping” en las vitrinas, leyendo un libro o viendo una película y leyendo una revista. Tal vez estaba a punto de probarme algo y caminar dentro de un museo o podría ser que fui a Grecia a Marruecos, despues a Egipto; ¿alguna vez me detuve para comprar una tarjeta postal o un recuerdo? ¿Hay objetos que debo recolectar?
La forma en que Atelier E.B y Lafayette Anticipations se unieron alcazó la expectativa artística. Desafiada por la atención y el resultado de este proyecto, me fui con las manos vacías pero llena de poesía. Gracias a una paleta de colores muy presetn, inspirada en las cifras y los mensajes codificados la absorví. Pero para ser honesta, y no sé si puedo explicarlo, mi corazón artístico y mi mente de diseñadora no pueden alcanzar este nivel ahora. Ta lvez lo es porque soy demasiado “adulta” o demasiado “folklore” pero lo siento como otro planeta, no tan lejos pero sí distante.
Supongo que es hora de profundizar más. Tal vez para ir más lejos … o al menos volver a visitar este lugar.
